Main Bearings

Main bearings are the bearings on which the crankshaft rotates. The main bearing firmly holds the crankshaft in place and therefore halts the forces created by the piston and transmitted to the crankshaft by the connecting rods from dislodging the crankshaft. This action instead forces the crank to convert the movement into rotation. The heavy wall main bearing contains a heavier wall in order to withstand greater pressure/force.

Connecting rod bearings are located in the large end of the connecting rod, by which, it is attached to the crankshaft.
